Grundlagen der Biotechnologie: Struktur der DNA, RNA und Proteine, Replikation, Rekombination und Transposition, RNA-Synthese, Transkription, Translation, Proteinbiosynthese, Kontrolle der Genexpression, Signaltransduktion, Eukaryotenchromosom und Genexpression.
Prinzipien, Mechanismen und Anwendungsgebiete moderner biotechnologischer Methoden: Gelelektrophorese, Sequenzierung, Blotting-Verfahren, PCR-Amplifizierung eines Gens, (Hochdurchsatz-) PCR, Fluoreszenz-in-situ-Hybridisierung (FISH), DNA-Microarrays, , Gentechnische Verfahren zur Modifizierung des Stoffwechsels.
